Days of the Week (Los Días de la Semana)

• Lunes - Monday
• Martes - Tuesday
• Miércoles - Wednesday

Important Notes:

• Days are NOT capitalized in Spanish
• Use “el” before the day: el lunes (on Monday)
• For plural (every Monday): los lunes

Examples:

• Voy al cine el sábado - I’m going to the cinema on Saturday
• Trabajo los lunes - I work on Mondays
• El domingo voy a la playa - On Sunday I’m going to the beach

Months of the Year (Los Meses del Año)

• Enero - January
• Febrero - February
• Marzo - March
• Abril - April
• Mayo - May
• Junio - June
• Julio - July
• Agosto - August
• Septiembre - September
• Octubre - October
• Noviembre - November
• Diciembre - December

Important Notes:

• Months are NOT capitalized in Spanish
• Use “en” before the month: en enero (in January)

Seasons (Las Estaciones)

• La primavera - Spring
• El verano - Summer
• El otoño - Fall/Autumn
• El invierno - Winter

Examples:

• En primavera hay flores - In spring there are flowers
• En verano voy a la playa - In summer I go to the beach
• En otoño caen las hojas - In fall the leaves fall
• En invierno hace frío - In winter it’s cold

Years (Los Años)

Reading Years:

• 2024 → Dos mil veinticuatro
• 2000 → Dos mil
• 1990 → Mil novecientos noventa
• 1492 → Mil cuatrocientos noventa y dos

Expressing From… To… (De… a…)

Time Periods:

• De lunes a viernes - From Monday to Friday
• De enero a marzo - From January to March
• De 9 a 5 - From 9 to 5
• Del 1 al 31 - From the 1st to the 31st

Examples:

• Trabajo de lunes a viernes - I work from Monday to Friday
• Las vacaciones son de julio a agosto - Vacation is from July to August
• La tienda abre de 10 a 20 horas - The store opens from 10 to 20 hours
• El curso es del 1 de septiembre al 30 de junio - The course is from September 1st to June 30th

Dates (Las Fechas)

Asking the Date:

• ¿Qué día es hoy? - What day is today?
• ¿Cuál es la fecha? - What’s the date?
• ¿A qué fecha estamos? - What’s the date?

Saying the Date: Structure: el + number + de + month + de + year

• Hoy es el 15 de marzo de 2024
• El 1 de enero - January 1st (use “el primero” or “el uno”)
• El 25 de diciembre - December 25th

• Hoy es lunes, 10 de abril
• Mi cumpleaños es el 5 de mayo
• La Navidad es el 25 de diciembre
