Asking for Directions

Basic Questions:

• ¿Dónde está…? - Where is…?
• ¿Cómo llego a…? - How do I get to…?
• ¿Puede ayudarme? - Can you help me?
• Estoy perdido/perdida - I’m lost (male/female)
• ¿Está lejos? - Is it far?
• ¿Está cerca? - Is it close?

Asking About Places:

• ¿Dónde está el banco? - Where is the bank?
• ¿Dónde está la estación? - Where is the station?
• ¿Cómo llego a la plaza? - How do I get to the square?
• ¿Dónde está el baño? - Where is the bathroom?

Giving Directions

Basic Instructions:

• Siga recto - Go straight
• Gire a la izquierda - Turn left
• Gire a la derecha - Turn right
• Cruce la calle - Cross the street
• Tome la primera calle - Take the first street
• Está al final de la calle - It’s at the end of the street

Locations:

• A la izquierda - On the left
• A la derecha - On the right
• Al lado de - Next to
• Enfrente de - In front of
• Detrás de - Behind
• Entre - Between
• En la esquina - On the corner

Distance and Time

• Cerca - Close/Near
• Lejos - Far
• Muy cerca - Very close
• Aquí mismo - Right here
• A cinco minutos - Five minutes away
• A diez cuadras - Ten blocks away

Useful Phrases

• Disculpe, ¿dónde está el museo? - Excuse me, where is the museum?
• Siga recto y gire a la izquierda - Go straight and turn left
• Está a la derecha, al lado del banco - It’s on the right, next to the bank
• Gracias por su ayuda - Thank you for your help
• De nada - You’re welcome

Example Conversation
